Why are Pattu Sarees Worn and Appreciated by Women?
Sari is one of the oldest and best garments worn by Indian women since time immemorial. Its origin dates to Indus Valley Civilisation which flourished in the Western part of the Indian subcontinent between 2800 BC to 1800 BC. The Indian artisans had the expertise of weaving Pattu sarees and other dresses during the ancient times.
More than 75% of Indian women still wear the unstitched fabric that is six to nine yards long. The dress is highly flexible and suitable to wear even in performing daily chores. No spirit and fervour will prevail in the festivals if no woman wears a saree. It is more than a cloth draped by women rather a symbol of long-standing tradition and culture of the Indian subcontinent.
