How is Grammar scored in the ‘Write Essay’ subsection of the PTE

Grammar is the cement that holds words together. Without proper grammar, it is hard to put one’s thoughts across as intended. The most critical aspect of grammar is sentence construction. Some people have the habit of using the same phrase, both as a sentence as well as a question. They just alter the tone of their voice to differentiate between the two. Though this isn’t right, it serves the purpose of communication and more often than not isn’t frowned upon. However, it is not possible to indicate the tone of one’s voice while writing. To have a question mark after a sentence that does not incite a question, is also wrong. The PTE Academic writing section demands mastery over sentence construction and spellings, in order to draft a good essay. At times, people may understand the intent of your statement by replacing words and rearranging them, to make sense. But, if the reader has to do this, he/she will lose the flow of the essay and with it their interest in the subject.

The PTE uses the following scale to grade grammar:

2 - correct usage of complex sentences with well disguised errors (if any).

1 - not very strong, but mediocre grasp over grammar, with mistakes that do not alter the meaning of sentences.

0 - lack of usage of complex sentences with numerous mistakes.

With such transparent grading scales, the PTE is recognized for its fair and unbiased examination of the English language. The PTE Academic India exam is also the cheapest PTE test of English in the market. You can receive an additional discount through the PTE voucher that can be bought at any AECC Global office. You can also register online for the test to avail the same discount.
